SPECS: 3 1/8 inches wide at the rim, 7 inches tall and holds 21 oz.

This elegantly earthy mug is adorned with rich hues of rich, deep purples and blues, earthy greens and golden brown drips cascading down from the rim over a speckled brown base. The inside is glazed with a turquoise. You may, over time, see a subtle crackle effect forming in the amber band on the outside of your New Earth piece. Different pottery traditions put different values on this effect but the Eastern pottery tradition sees it as a sought after feature and not something to avoid. Collectors of Eastern pottery, specifically Eastern teaware, actually seek this feature out...that the piece is not mature until crackling is present. Like with Eastern teaware, this superficial crackle effect is likely to evolve as your mug matures.

The handle has a comfortable four finger grip and its sloped sides makes this mug so comfortable to hold as you savor a steamy brew.

~Made on the wheel with Laguna B-Mix clay and food safe glazes.

~Although, technically, my pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe, we do not recommend it since they are works of art that should be treated with care. The dishwasher may, over time, dull the sheen of the glaze. As with any handmade pottery, avoid leaving it in a sink of water, which will seep into any exposed clay. If a piece that has water in it is microwaved, it may crack. Although it is a rare occurrence, ceramics can fracture from thermal shock. To avoid this possibility, fill your cup or mug with hot tap water as you are heating your tea water to warm the mug before adding boiling water. If handled properly, these pieces are intended to last many lifetimes, like treasured family heirlooms. We recommend hand washing your pieces and avoiding the microwave.
