Note:  a small dimple on the  inside

This elegantly earthy mug is adorned with rich hues of rich, deep purples and blues, earthy greens and golden brown drips cascading down from the rim over a lavender base. The inside is glazed with a dark brown. You may, over time, see a subtle crackle effect forming in the amber band on the outside of your New Earth piece. Different pottery traditions put different values on this effect but the Eastern pottery tradition sees it as a sought after feature and not something to avoid. Collectors of Eastern pottery, specifically Eastern teaware, actually seek this feature out...that the piece is not mature until crackling is present. Like with Eastern teaware, this superficial crackle effect is likely to evolve as your mug matures.

CARE RECOMMENDATIONS:

Although, technically, my pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe, we do not recommend it since they are works of art that should be treated with care. The following recommendations are encouraged for all handmade pottery. . Dishwasher use may increase the chances of chipping the rim. As with any handmade pottery, avoid leaving it in a sink of water, which will seep into any exposed clay. If a piece that has water in it is microwaved, it may crack. Although it is a rare occurrence, ceramics can fracture from thermal shock. To avoid this possibility, fill your cup or mug with hot tap water as you are heating your tea water to warm the mug before adding boiling water. If handled properly, these pieces are intended to last many lifetimes, like treasured family heirlooms. We recommend hand washing your pieces and avoiding the microwave.

SHIPPING INFORMATION:

Unless otherwise indicated, all orders going to the same address will be shipped together (up to 4 pieces in one box). Shipping overages will be issued once an order has been packed and weighed. INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS:

If your package is being shipped internationally, you may have additional customs fees, duties or value added taxes added to your shipping cost and may require a package to be picked up at a nearby post office. Be sure to keep a close eye on your order tracking. It might be helpful to find an online ‘import taxes calculator’ for your country’s customs agency to get an idea of any possible added costs.
